1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1 large onion chopped
2 1/2 c tomato juice
1 pkg. frozen corn (10 oz.)
1-2 T chili powder
1 t salt
1/3 t pepper

Corn Meal Pastry
1 c flour
1/4 c corn meal
1/2 t salt
1/3 c plus 1T shortening
3 T cold water

Directions:
Directions:
In a large skillet brown meat and onions until the meat is no longer pink. Drain off any fat. Stir in the remaining pie ingredients. Heat to boiling, reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Heat oven to 400.

Make your pastry. Mix flour, corn meal and salt into a bowl. Cut in shortening and sprinkle with water 1 T at a time. Gather into a ball and then roll out into a rectangle.

Put the meat mixture into a bowl that can go in the oven. Place the pastry over the top of the meat mixture. Cut slits in the top of the pastry. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the pastry is light brown.
