1 lb hamburger
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
2 Tbsp minced onion
1/4 cup celery, finely chopped (optional)
1/2 cup water
1 can cream of mushroom soup
Potatoes

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all ingredients except soup and water. Shape into oval patties about 1 inch thick. Using a small amount of butter, brown on both sides in skillet or Dutch oven. Peel and slice potatoes and place around meat. Combine soup and water and pour over meat and potatoes. Simmer in covered skillet for 25 minutes. Soup and meat juices will make gravy without further thickening.

One of the two main dishes I made for Chris when we first started dating. I recall making this the first time I met Eric and did not make nearly enough for two "growing boys!' They pounded on the table and chanted "We want more! We want more!"
