8 ounces plain flour
pinch salt
5 ounces butter
3 ounces Caster sugar (fine sugar)
Glace cherries or split almonds to decorate

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour and salt in a bowl. Cut in the butter and stir in sugar. Rub in well until the mixture binds together to make a fairly firm dough. Roll out on a lightly floured board, then cut into rounds or squares. Set on a greased baking sheet and decorate each with a cherry or sliced almond. Bake in a moderately slow oven about 325 for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack and store in an airtight container.
