1 1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 cup apple sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
3 cup flour
2 tsp. soda
1 cup nuts, I like pecans or a mix
1 cup raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add apple sauce. Sift together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and soda. Add flour mixture to shortening and sugar mixture. Then add the nuts and raisins. Put in a greased 9x13 pan and bake at 350 for about 45 to 60 min. Check the cake at about 30 min. Some ovens are hotter and it bakes faster if it's in a dark pan. Note - I add 1-15 oz. can of apple sauce, instead of 1 1/2 c, My Mom adds cut up gum drops for the holidays.
