2 c flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3/4 C shortening
1/2 c milk
4 apples, peeled and sliced
cinnamon
Sauce:
1 c sugar
5 T flour
2 T butter
2 c hot water

Directions:
Directions:
To make dumplings: sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Add milk stirring well. Roll out 1/4 inch thick on a floured board. Spread apples over dough, sprinkle with cinnamon. Roll lengthwise as for a jelly roll. Cut in slices and place in pan.BAKE: 375 for 30 min
TO MAKE SAUCE: Combine sugar, flour, butter and hot water. Pour over dumplings. Bake for 10 min. Serve plain or top with ice cream. Makes 12 dumplings.

Grandma always put extra sauce on hers. She got this receipe from Agnes Hackett. I beleive Grandma baked the whole thing in the oven at once the receipt actual has it split up.
