1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup vinegar
2 T. lemon juice
2 tsp. onion
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 cup oil
1-bunch romaine lettuce torn into bite size pieces
Parmesan or mozzarella cheese, grated
1 apple, cut into small pieces
1 pear, cut into small pieces
cashews
dried cranberries



Directions:
Directions:
Combine 1st 6 ingredients in a measuring cup and set aside while assembling rest of ingredients into a large bowl. Just before serving, add dressing to lettuce mixture.

I usually clean romaine lettuce and put in an air tight container to "crisp up" at least the day before. I vary the recipe by using mandarin oranges, pecans, strawberries, etc. The left over dressing is good to use for a week when refrigerated.
