1/2 c melted shortening
1/2 c sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ginger and cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1 c light molasses
1 cup boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugar and egg
Sift all dry ingredients
Mix molasses and boiling water
Alternate wet mixture with dry mixture
Bake 350 until done
