"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Directions:
Melt 1/2 cup butter, 1cup brown sugar in saucepan. Bring to boil, constantly stirring. Allow to boil 1 minute until thick. Cool slightly, add 1/4 cup milk, beat until smooth. Add 3 1/4 cup sifted powdered sugar until spreading consistency.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This is brother Bills Favorite Icing. One time Dee Dee and I made him a butter cake and iced it with this icing. It sets up fast and hardens into a candy or fudge consistency. We didn't ice fast enough, and basically ended up with a heap of cake torn to shreds.

This also was great, because Bill was the icing eater, and John enjoyed the cake. John could easily cut the cake from under the icing, and the icing would remain intact (looking like an iced cake was in the pan, when it was actually just a sheet of icing. Depending on which brother was the most recent to pass by, you either would have a sheet of icing, or just cake.
