"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous
This recipe for Moist Devil's Food Cake, by Gerri McAdoo, is from Mama GG's Favorite Family Recipes,

families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
2 cups sugar 1/2 cup margarine 5 tablespoons cocoa 2 eggs 1 teaspoon soda pinch of salt 1/2 cup buttermilk 2 cups self rising flour 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup boiling water
Combine sugar, margarine, and cocoa; beat well. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add soda and salt to buttermilk. Add milk to sugar mixture alternately with flour; add vanilla. Stir in boiling water, mixture will be thin. Bake in 2 - 9-inch layer pans at 350º for 30 minutes, or until firm.
This cake is really moist. My brother Gerald loved this cake.
