1 can evaporated milk
4 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 lb butter or margarine
3 (6 oz) pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips
3 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Heat evaporated milk, sugar, and butter in heavy sauce pan, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a rolling boil. Stir and cook for 8 minutes. Timing is critical. Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips, vanilla, and nuts. Spread in a 9x13" pan. Allow to cool completely. Cut into bite-sized pieces. Store in an air-tight container. Candy freezes very well.
