Women's Group Holiday Book

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 egg
1 tbsp butter
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 1/4 cups boiling water
1 cap of vanilla
1/2 lb dates

Cream sugar, egg, and butter. Add vanilla, flour, salt, soda, and nuts. Soak dates in boiling water and mix in last. Makes 1 loaf. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
