1 pkg. dried yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm water
1/4 c. Crisco
2 T. sugar
4-1/2 c. flour
1 c. scalded milk
2 t. salt
2 eggs, well beaten

Directions:
Directions:
Soak yeast in lukewarm water 5 minutes. Put scalded milk in a large bowl; add sugar, salt, eggs and shortening. Stir well; add softened yeast. Mix in flour; knead well on floured board 5 minutes. Put dough into greased bowl. Cover and let rise 2 hours or until doubled in size.

Divide dough into 2 strands about 20" long; twist or braid together to form a ring. Pinch ends together; place ring on a greased pizza pan. Let rise for 1 hour until light and puffy. Brush with beaten egg.

Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 325 and bake another 15-20 minutes pending desired browness.
