1 pkg yeast
1/4 C warm water

1/2 C hot mashed potatoes
1/4 C shortening
1/4 C sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 C scalded milk

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Combine potatoes, shortening, sugar, salt, & scalded milk; cool to lukewarm. Then add 1 egg, yeast mix, & 2 cups flour. Beat well.
Stir in rest of flour, enough to make stiff dough. Takes 4 to 4 1/2 cups sifted flour. Knead 6 to 8 times. Place in a greased bowl-grease the top and let raise for 1 hour. Punch down and let raise again. Make into rolls. Bake @ 375 till golden, 8 to 10 minutes. Brush with butter when done.
