1 cup plus 2 Tbsp. butter
1 1/4 cups sugar, divided
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
3/4 tsp. cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and 1 cup of sugar. Blend in molasses and egg. Combine flour, baking soda and spices and add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Shape dough into 1 1/4 balls. Roll in sugar and place on greased cookie sheet. Press flat with a fork. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
