1 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 1 egg 1/2 c. cold coffee pinch salt 1 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 2 c. thinly sliced apples
Topping: 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 T. butter or margarine
Cream shortening, sugar and egg. Add coffee and mix well. Add dry to wet. Fold in apples. Pour in greased and floured 8 x 8 pan. Combine topping mixture with a fork or pastry cutter. Crumble over cake. Bake at 350º for 40 minutes.
