1 c. dates (cut into small pieces)
1 level tsp. soda
1 c. boiling water
Pour water over dates w/ soda & let sit to cool & then add:
1 c. white sugar
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 egg
4 Tbsp. melted butter

Mix together until moistened.

Bake in small greased gem tins in a 350 oven - about 20 min. or test for done. Take out the minute they are done.
**Add ingredients in order listed.
