1 Cup shortening ( Crisco )
1 Cup white sugar
1 Large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla - or - 1/2 vanilla and 1/2 almond extract.
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 Cups flour







Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl, combine sugar, shortening, vanilla and egg; beat well.
Add flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt; blend well.
Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Roll dough in balls by rounded teaspoonfuls, place on cookie sheet 2" apart. Dip bottom of a glass in white sugar and flatten cookies.

Bake in 350 oven for 10 - 12 minutes or until light golden brown around the edges.
