2 cans shopped tomatoes, not drained
2 cans red kidney beans, drained
1 lb. ground beef, turkey or pork, crumbled
1 tbsp. chili powder
1/4 cup syrup
1/3 cup chopped onion
2 tbspns olive oil.

Directions:
Directions:
Brown onions in olive oil.
Add ground beef and cook covered, until browned. Drain.
Add tomatoes, beans, chili powder and syrup.
Stir well.
Cover and simmer for 1/2 hour.

This tastes better the next day. I drain the cooked ground beef so the dish isn't so fattening. I got this recipe in California in 1959 and have used it ever since. Delicious.
