1 qt. strawberries, sliced
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup shortening
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 T. sugar
1 T. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sprinkle berries with sugar and set aside. Heat oven to 450 degrees. Grease bottom and sides of 8 in. round pan. Cut shortening into flour, 2 T. sugar, baking powder and salt until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in milk 'til just blended. Pat in pan. Bake 15-20 min. 'til golden brown.

This is great served warm with any fresh berries or peaches. Serve with whipped cream, ice cream, or milk to your preference. I like to split it and spread with butter!
