1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. margarine
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1c. mashed bananas
1 3/4 c. quick cooking oatmeal
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Combine sugar, margarine, and egg and blend well. Stir in mashed bananas.
Sift dry ingredients together and gradually add to wet ingredients, stirring well after each addition.
Add oatmeal and nuts last.
Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 10-15 minutes or until light brown.
Remove to cooling rack and store in a covered container.

This was my favorite childhood recipe. Mom always did one thing a little different than other bakers. She frosted the flat bottoms of the cookies instead of the tops because it was easier to spread the frosting. (It made perfect sense to me.) Also, she usually used chocolate frosting (my favorite), but vanilla tastes good too!
