1 c. Crisco Oil
1 1/2 c. Sugar
3 Eggs
1 c. Buttermilk
1 c. Chopped Cooked Prunes
2 c. Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 1/2 tsp. Ground Cloves
1/4 tsp. Salt
1 c. Nuts, Chopped [Walnuts]
1 tsp. Vanilla
Sauce:
1 1/2 c. Sugar
1 tbsp. Light Karo Syrup
1/2 c. Buttermilk
1/2 Stick of Margarine or Butter
1/4 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Vanilla

Preheat Oven to 325
Mix all Cake ingredients together until well mixed. Pour into wax paper lined pan or a loaf or tube pan is best [Angel Food Cake pan]. Bake 1 Hour and 20 Minutes. While the cake bakes mix the sauce ingredients together in a pan and cook until thick about 10-15 minutes. When cake comes out of oven and still in the pan punch holes with a large cooking fork all over cake to bottom of pan. While still hot pour sauce over cake and let set up in pan until cooled. Yum Yum.

Jan - Aunt Mallie made this cake for Christmas gifts. When we were kids we would go "Eeewww Prune Cake - Yuk!" Mom would freeze the cake to save it and one time when she was thawing it to serve, as kids will we were looking for a sweet treat and did not know it was the Prune Cake. We had some and it was Yummy!! From then on we never turned up our noses at Aunt Mallie's Cake!!
