1 cup butter softened,
1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk,
1/4 tsp vanilla extract (or maple flavoring)
4 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 1/2 pounds of high quality dipping chocolate
1 pound roasted, salted, finely chopped almonds
Directions:
Directions:
Combine butter, vanilla, milk, and powdered sugar. Mix well and freeze until firm enough to handle. Roll into balls using about 1/2 teaspoon per ball. Freeze creme balls overnight.
Melt dipping chocolate over hot water. Take extreme care not to let any water spill over into chocolate. Roll creme ball in chocolate, coating completely. Roll in almonds.
Hint: Don't take too many out of the freezer at a time. Work in small batches. Use powdered sugar like flour if it is too sticky as you roll balls. Put back in freezer after you roll about 10 balls.

This is a recipe for the candy that mom's neighbors, the Watts, gave her each Christmas. She really enjoyed these! I also enjoyed helping her eat these. Hopefully mom didn't mind sharing with me too much.
