1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
3 c. quick oats
1/2- 1 c. walnuts, chopped

1. Thoroughly cream shortening, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
2. Add eggs and vanilla, beat well.
3. Add flour sifted with salt and soda.
4. Add quick oats and walnut. Mix well.
5. Form in long rolls and chill.
6. Slice 1/4'' thick. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in moderate over for 10 minutes.
