2 cups white sugar
1 cup white Karo syrup
1/2 cup water
2 cups or 1 small bag raw peanuts
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
2 generous tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, white Karo, and water in a large heavy pot stirring regularly. Bring to 238 degrees on a candy thermometer. Add the peanuts and cook to 295 degrees til light brown stirring regularly. QUICKLY stir in vanilla, salt, butter, and soda. This will foam up; do not stir down. Pour immediately onto a greased jellyroll pan. Tip pan to spread.

This is more work than the microwave version, but it is really good! If you use salted peanuts, omit the salt.
