I pkg. (1/2 lb.) candy orange slices 1 box chopped dates 2 cups nuts, chopped (pecans or walnuts) 1 cup coconut 2 stick butter 2 cups plain flour 1 tsp. soda 1/2 cup buttermilk 4 eggs 1 1/2 cups sugar
Mix all ingredients together by hand and bake in tube pan at 300 until top is crunchy and it feels cooked through (1-2 hours). Take it out of the oven and cool. This is better than fruit cake and just as rich.
