2 squares Baker's unsweetened chocolate, melted
1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten together
2 c. + 1 T. sifted cake flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 c. cold water

1 c. powdered sugar
1 egg white
3 T. water
salt and a pinch of cream of tartar.

There were no directions with this old recipe. I assume you melt the two squares of unsweetened chocolate. Beat the Crisco and sugar together and add cooled chocolate. Add beaten eggs. Alternate sifted-together flour, soda and salt with the cold water. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
Frosting: Beat together all ingredients over hot water in a double boiler until thick. Spread on cooled cake. Drizzle additional melted chocolate across the cake in a zigzag pattern.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Mom always used the bitter chocolate also on the sweet frosting but I would prefer semi-sweet chocolate. I think Ann Marie was a relative to the Lamb family.
