4 c. flour, all purpose
4 T. B.P.
1/2 t. salt
1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c. milk
1 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Sift and measure dry ingredients
Cream butter, add sugar, eggs one at a time. Add milk and dry ingredients. Chill 2 hours.
Roll 1/3 inch thick
cut and fry

Spicy
add 1/4 t. nutmeg, 1/2 t. cinnamon and 1/4 t. allspice Use brown sugar, add 1/2 c. raisins

Chocolate
Decrease flour to 3 1/2 c. add 6 T. cocoa

Orange
Omit vanilla, add 2 T. grated orange rind and chopped nuts
