1 stick margarine
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1 c. oatmeal

Filling:
3 c. figs, chopped or other fruit
1 c. water
1 c. sugar
2 T. lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Mix margarine, shortening, brown sugar, flour, salt, soda and oatmeal. Press half of the mixture in the bottom of 8x8 inch pan and spread with fruit filling. Sprinkle remaining mixture over fruit layer. Bake until lightly browned in a 400 oven about 30 minutes.

For the filling mix all the filling ingredients in saucepan, cook on medium heat until thickened, about 10 minutes.
