1 c. sugar,
1 c. corn syrup,
1/2 c. water,
1/2 tsp baking soda,
1 Tbs butter,
1 tsp vanilla,
food coloring,
large bowl of popped corn

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, corn syrup and water. Cook over medium heat, stir until sugar dissolves. Cook at full boil for three minutes. Remove from heat, stir in baking soda (will foam) then add butter, vanilla, and food coloring stir.
Pour over popcorn. Pat into balls and place on wax paper to set up.

Grandma Merritt would pour this over puffed rice or puffed wheat to make puff balls. I loved these. A hint I learned from mom was to keep your hands lightly moistened with water while forming the balls.
