1/4 lb. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 c. sour cream
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. ground ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F. Butter and lightly flour a 9 inch square pan. Cream the butter and slowly add the sugar, beating until light. Add the molasses and sour cream and blend well. Add the eggs, continuing to beat until well mixed. Mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ginger. Add to the first mixture and beat until smooth. Pour into the pan and bake for 30 - 40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes before turning out onto a rack.

Serve with whipped cream.

This is more cakelike than the usual gingerbread. It's nice during the Christmas season or on any cold, blustery day!
