1 2/3cups sifted flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
21/2 tsp. baking powder
1/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup milk
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Have shortenig,egg,and milk at room temperature
Sift flour.sugar salt and baking powder together.Add shortening,milk,unbeaten egg and vanilla all at once to the flour mixture. Beat all the ingredients together for 2 minutes. Pour into a well-greased and floured pan. Bake 35 minutes at 350

(Topping)
3 T.melted butter
5 T.brown sugar
2 T. cream
1/2 cup coconut
Mix together and spread on cake when baked. Put back into oven until it bubbles all over and becomes brown
