3/4 c shortening
1 c sugar
1 c molasses
3 eggs
1 c milk
4 c flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp ginger
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
4 c applesauce

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening then add sugar a little at a time blending well. Add molasses and mix throughly. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition. To this add milk alternately with the sifted dry ingredients. Beat untill smooth. Bake in 6, 9 inch greased and floured pans. Bake at 375 for 18 to 20 minutes. When cool, stack up layers, using applesauce between layers. The applesauce can be flavored according to your taste.
