2 1/2 c. flour
2/3 c. sugar
3 T. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1 egg
1 c. chopped walnuts (black walnuts are best for this)
1 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all and let rise in warm place for 1 hour. Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes. Start testing with a toothpick at 30 minutes.

This was a favorite treat that my mother made only at Christmas. During Christmas vacation, we would toast slices of this bread and slather it with lots of butter and eat it as we played monopoly together. My mom and dad picked the walnuts in the fall and cracked and shelled them in the winter.
