1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups sugar
5 T flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 T. butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup cherry juice
1/2 t red food coloring
8 to 10 drops almond extract
3 cups drained canned or frozen cherries
Pastry for two crust pie

Directions:
Directions:
Combine the sugar, flour, and salt. Stir in butter, then cherry juice, food coloring, and extract. Add cherries and let stand while you make pastry. Line pie plate with pastry, fill with cherry mixture. Make lattice top, flute edges (be sure to have come holes in top crust if not latticed). Bake in hot oven 425 about 40 minutes.
