1/2 cup scalded milk
1/2 cup softened buter
1/2 cup sugar
9 pods separated, crushed cardamon seeds
1/2 tsp salt
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
2 large beaten eggs
3 1/2 cups unbleached flour

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Heat milk to scalding. Add yeast to warm water. Stir to dissolve. Add salt and cracked cardamon to the flour and stir to mix. Pour the milk over the butter mixture and stir until dissolved and cool. Add eggs and yeast/water mixture and stir. Add flour one cup at a time and stir until all the flour is incorporated. Let rise in a warm place for one hour. Punch down and let rise in a cool place for 30 ,minutes. Divide into 3 parts and braid on cookie sheet. Let rise on counter for 1 hour. Brush the top with beaten egg and sprinkle with pearl sugar. Bake at 375 degrees or 30 minutes.

For rising in a warm place, I turn my oven on for just a min. and turn it off. From start to finish allow 2 1/2 hours. I double the recipe and get two breads.
