1 cup sifted cake flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups (12) egg whites
1 1/2 tsp. cream of tarter
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Sift cake flour with 3/4 cup sugar 4 times. Beat egg whites till stiff enough to hold up in soft peaks, but still moist, glossy. Add remaining 3/4 cup sugar to egg whites, 2 T at a time, beating after each addition. Sift about 1/4 of flour mixture over whites, fold in. Fold in remaining flour by fourths. Bake in ungreased 10 inch round tube pan 375 35 to 40 minutes. Invert pan, cool.
