Ingredients:  
1 4oz. package dried beef (rinse with water to reduce salt)
½ stick margarine
¼ cup flour
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 cups milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cut dried beef into pieces. Melt ½ stick of margarine in saucepan. Stir in flour and pepper. Add milk gradually, stirring constantly until mixture thickens. Add dried beef and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve on toast.

My Great-Grandmother, Olive, used to “frizzle” the dried beef by browning it in margarine before adding to the white sauce.
