1 c. butter
1/2 c. XXX sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. finely chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Slowly add flour and salt. Add chopped nuts. Chill dough. Make into 1" balls. Bake just until done on an ungreased pan. Cool slightly on pan. While still warm dip into sifted XXX sugar.
Temp: 350 degrees

This recipe, like the almond crescents, was a staple Christmas treat as long as I can remember. It was always fun to sneak into the music room, called thus because the piano was in there; to get a taste of these before Christmas dinner. Believe me even the grand children would find their way back to that room brimming with treats. There did come a time when the table of goodies was brought to the dining room. I guess maybe mom gave up saving them for dessert.
