6 slices day old bread ( a coarse bread works best )
2 T. melted butter
2 T. sugar
1/2 c. raisins, opt.
1 tsp. cinnamon
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. sugar
2 c. milk ( whole or 2% )
1 tsp. vanilla


Directions:
Directions:
Cut off crusts, brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, which have been mixed together. Cut each slice in quarters. Arrange in 1 1/2 quart baking dish in layers. Sprinkle each layer with raisins ( opt.). Beat eggs to blend well. Stir in 1/2 c. sugar, milk and vanilla. Stir until sugar dissolves. Pour over bread. Press down a bit. Bake at 350. Set baking dish in pan of hot water. Bake 55-60 mins . Test using a knife in the pudding; if it comes out clean it is done.
