Cake:
1 1/4 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
1 unbaked 9" deep dish pie shell
1/4 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg, unbeaten
Sauce:

1 square unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. water
1 T. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. sugar

Directions:

Cake:
Mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a bowl. Add shortening, milk and vanilla and beat for 2 minutes on low speed. Add egg and beat 1 minute longer on low. Pour batter into unbaked pie shell. Top with lukewarm sauce and bake at 375 degrees for 55 minutes or until done.

Sauce:
Heat and stir until chocolate is melted. Add sugar and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Stir until blended. Cool.
