4 C sugar
1 C cornstarch
2 tsp ground cinnamon
tsp ground nutmeg
3 T lemon juice
2-3 drops of yellow food coloring
5 -6 pounds of apples

Directions:
Directions:
In large saucepan blend the 1st 4 ingredients & 1 t salt. Stir in 10 cups water;
Cook & stir until thickened & bubbly. Add lemon juice & food coloring. Pack apples into hot jars, leaving 1 inch headspace. Fill with hot syrup, leaving inch headspace.
(Use spatula to help distribute syrup.) Adjust lids. Process in boiling water bath (pints 15 minutes) (quarts 20 minutes.) Makes 6 quarts.
