Sift:
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
Add: 1/4 cup cold shortening - cut into flour mixture.
Add 1 cup buttermilk and mix

Directions:
Directions:
Pat dough out on floured board. Knead and cut out with cookie cutter.
Bake for 15 or 20 minutes in 400 degree oven or until browned.
Serve hot from the oven.

I got this recipe from the Stories and Recipes of the Great Depression of the 1930's by Rita Van Amber. 06/29/09 - The biscuits are delicious and so flakey.
