6 slices Raisin Bread or 3 plain, 3 raisin
2 c Milk
2 tbsp butter or margarine
2 eggs
1/4 sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
nutmeg or cinnamon, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven 350. Butter glass loaf pan, or 9" glass baking pan. Cut bread into 3/4" cubes. Place in pan. Heat milk and butter just until butter is melted. Whisk together milk mixture, eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla. Pour over bread cubes. Let stand five minutes. Sprinkle top with nutmeg. Set baking pan in a shallow pan. Add hot water until halfway up the sides of loaf pan. Bake 40-45 minutes or until custard is set. Serve warm or cool.
