1 c. molasses
1 c. butter
1 c. dark brown sugar
5 c. sifted, all-purpose flour
2 tsp. ground ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1 large egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Heat molasses in large saucepan. Remove from heat, stir in butter and brown sugar. Cool.
Sift flour and dry ingredients. Slowly, a little at a time, stir flour mixture into the molasses-butter-sugar mixture. Add egg and vanilla, mix well. Cover dough lightly. Chill for 4 hrs. or overnight. Roll dough out on lightly floured surface. Use gingerbread cookie cutter to cut out dough. Place cookies on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated over at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Let cool. Can decorate as desired.
