3 1/4 C sifted, all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp soda
1 C butter (2 sticks)
1 1/2 C sugar
2 eggs
1 Tbsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 C (1/2 pint) dairy sour cream

BUTTER FROSTING
1/4 C butter
2 1/2 C sifted confectioner sugar
Dash salt
2 Tbsp light cream
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract

Directions:
Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, and soda. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, vanilla and almond extract. Add dry ingredients alternately with sour cream; blend. Chill thoroughly. Drop level tablespoons of dough 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet. Keep dough well chilled until baked, taking a portion of dough out of fridge at a time, if necessary. Bake in moderate oven 350 for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool. Spread tops of cookies with butter frosting and top with almonds if desired.
