1/2 lb butter
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup baker's cocoa
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 cup sweet milk
3 cups cake flour
Frosting:
2 unsweetened chocolate squares
4 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp corn syrup
1 cup chopped nuts
grated chocolate

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together. Cream butter, shortening, and sugar. Add other ingredients and mix well. Grease and flour large tube pan. Pour batter into tube pan and bake at 350 for 1 hour and 25 minutes. Test with wooden toothpick to see if center is done before removing from oven.

Frosting:
Combine all ingredients except vanilla and chopped nuts. Bring ingredients to a boil and cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, cool, then beat. Add vanilla and nuts. Spread over pound cake.

Instead of frosting. Cover cake with ornate dollies then sprinkle with confectioner's sugar. Lift dollies to reveal designs.
