2/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
4 tsp. milk
2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Thoroughly cream shortening sugar and vanilla. Add egg, beat until light and fluffy. Stir in milk. Add dry ingredients and mix. Divide dough in half. Chill for 1 hour.

On lightly floured surface, roll to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375 about 6 to 8 minutes. Cool slightly, remove from pan. Ice with butter cream frosting or you can thin powdered sugar with milk and dip the front of the cookie into the mixture and let them dry on a cookie rack until the icing hardens.
