1/2 lb. mild pork sausage
3 - 4 slices day-old bread
3/4 c. crushed onion & garlic croutons
1/2 c. minced onion
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. Line 9" x 13" cake pan with aluminum foil. Place a rack with slats no farther apart than 1/2" on top of the pan. Combine bread, croutons, onion, salt & pepper in a large mixing bowl. Break ground round and sausage into small pieces with your hands and add to mixing bowl. Add all other ingredients. Using your hands, combine ingredients, distributing them evenly through the mix. Form a loaf with as even a thickness as possible and place on the center of the rack. Loaf should be moist and firmly packed. If mix is too dry, add more BBQ sauce or ketchup. Bake for 1 1/4 hr. or until internal temperature reaches 160 in the center of the loaf. Remove from oven and let stand 10 min. before slicing.

Personal Notes:
Linda is the wife of Richard Hathaway, the daughter of Jack Hollenshead, Sr. & the granddaughter of the late Charlie & Carrie (Wade) Hollenshead. Adapted from a recipe created by my adoptive mom, Olive Smithmier. It is hard to go wrong and experimenting is encouraged! I don't think you'll be disappointed. The BBQ sauces listed are those we like at home in Wichita, KS.
