5 slices bread, broken in pieces
3 eggs, beaten
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. milk
Sauce for Pudding:
1 1/2 c. cream (or milk)
1 1/2 tsp. cornstarch
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 T. butter
1 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Mix and pour ingredients for the pudding in a buttered 9x9 inch baking pan . Bake at 350 for 40 minutes, then 10 minutes at 375 or until knife inserted in center of pudding comes out clean.

To make sauce: mix cornstarch with sugar, add rest of ingredients. Cook over low heat until mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat and serve warm over bread pudding.
