2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
4 tsp baking powder
1 Tbsp lard (shortening or butter)
1 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Place dry ingredients in a bowl. Cut in lard and add enough milk to make a smooth dough. Drop the dough by spoonfuls on top of beef stew that is cooking. (In crock pot or in the oven) Cover tightly and steam for 15 minutes. If you want a light and fluffy dumpling, do not lift lid until full 15 minutes is up. If you make a lamb stew, add about 4 Tbsp fresh mint to your dumplings.
